Intel unveils new logo in brand overhaul

December 30th, 2005 danielchoe Comments off

intel_logo.jpg

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Intel Corp. said on Thursday it will scrap its 37-year-old logo as part of a major rebranding that will emphasise the chipmaker’s shift away from its core PC business into consumer products.

The original Intel logo featuring a lowered “e” will be replaced with one showing an oval swirl surrounding the company’s name.

The phrase “Leap ahead” will supplant “Intel inside,” which helped bring the company into the public awareness during the PC boom of the 1990s.

Intel said Chief Executive Paul Otellini is set to unveil details of the campaign during next week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The Santa Clara, California-based company is rolling out the rebranding just weeks after it elevated Eric Kim to the role of Chief Marketing Officer.

Intel hired Kim away last year from Samsung Electronics, where he was credited with helping to forge a savvy consumer brand to take on industry stalwarts such as Japan’s Sony Corp.

“‘Intel. Leap ahead.’ is a simple expression that declares who we are and what we do. This is part of our heritage,” Kim said in a statement.

The new marketing effort will phase out Intel’s well-known Pentium brand and emphasise its Centrino line of laptop chips, upcoming PC and server processors, and a new effort called “Viiv” that aims to integrate PCs into home entertainment such as by recording TV shows and sending them to other devices.

How to run homebrews on your Nintendo DS

December 30th, 2005 danielchoe Comments off

Things you need in order to play backup ds games on your nintendo ds.

1: Passkey2 (pick the version you have an actual game of)
PassMe is a device designed by Rafael Vuijk and me to run homebrew programs on the DS gaming console. PassMe2 is a modification of the design by Loopy to support newer DS firmware.

2: M3 CF or SD Card Reader
You can purchase it at diveno.com Here is a direct link for the m3 adapter link. This is where where you can either put a CF or SD card in for storage of games. The price is $89.99.

The reason why you have to purchase a passkey 2 is because Nintendo has updated the firmware on all new Nintendo so the passkey that comes wtih the m3 adapter doesnt work unless you flash it. I made an attempt to flash mine with a home built Jtag but found it easier to just buy one in the end. =( Just a quick note the passkey 1 that comes wtih the m3 adapter is identical as the passkey2 but just has the old firmware on it.

If you want to save some money and attempt to flash your passme key that comes with you m3 adapter here is some info on how you can: http://natrium42.com/projects/serial.html

Here is Darkfaders site you will need this site for the sav files: http://darkfader.net/ds/games/

Hope that helps. If you have any question please feel free to email deeznuts.
